Choosing a digital marketing agency in the UAE is harder than it should be: hundreds of agencies,
identical-sounding promises, and pricing that’s rarely public. This checklist is what we’d tell a friend to look
for — whether they hire us or someone else.
How do you choose a digital marketing agency in the UAE?
Shortlist 3–5 agencies, then compare them on five things: verified client reviews (Clutch, Google), who will
actually work on your account, whether you keep ownership of your ad accounts and data, how they report
results, and whether their pricing is explained rather than hidden. An agency that scores well on all five is
rare — and worth paying for.
Here’s how to check each one.
Step 1: Verify their reviews — don’t just read their website
Testimonials on an agency’s own site are curated. Check instead:
• Clutch.co — reviews are identity-verified, often via phone interview
• Google reviews on their Business Profile
• LinkedIn — do real employees exist, and how senior are they?
Red flag: an agency with big claims but no third-party review footprint.
Step 2: Ask who will actually run your account
Many agencies sell with a senior strategist and deliver with a junior executive handling 20+ accounts. Ask
directly:
• “Who is my day-to-day contact, and what’s their experience?”
• “How many accounts does that person manage?”
• “Will the people in this meeting be the people doing the work?”
Step 3: Confirm you own your accounts and data
Non-negotiable: your Google Ads account, Meta ad accounts, website, analytics, and creative assets must
belong to you, not the agency. Some agencies run client campaigns inside agency-owned accounts — if
you leave, you lose your campaign history and pixel data. Ask: “If we part ways in 12 months, what do I
walk away with?”
Step 4: Judge their reporting before you sign
Ask for a sample monthly report. A good one shows leads, calls, and revenue attributed to channels — not
just impressions and “engagement.” If you can’t understand the sample report in five minutes, you’ll be
confused for the whole engagement.
Step 5: Understand UAE market pricing
Typical 2026 ranges in the UAE: single-channel management (SEO or PPC) AED 3,000–8,000/month;
full-service engagements AED 8,000–15,000+/month, plus ad spend. Note that many businesses in the
Gulf work with agencies operating from both India and the UAE (as we do) — same senior talent, often
30–50% lower retainers than Dubai-only shops.
Cheapest is rarely cheapest: a AED 2,500 retainer that produces nothing costs AED 30,000 a year plus a

year of lost growth. Compare cost per lead, not cost per month.
Red flags that should end the conversation
• Guaranteed #1 Google rankings or guaranteed follower counts
• No case studies or references from your industry or a similar one
• Long lock-in contracts (6–12 months) before any results are shown
• They won’t tell you who does the work or show a sample report
• Your ad accounts would be created under their ownership
The 10-question vetting checklist
1 Can I see verified reviews on Clutch or Google?
2 Who exactly works on my account, and how many other clients do they have?
3 Do I own all my accounts, data, and creatives?
4 What did clients like me pay, and what results did they get?
5 What happens in the first 30 days?
6 How often do you optimize — weekly or monthly?
7 What does your monthly report look like? (ask for a sample)
8 What’s the contract term and notice period?
9 Which platforms are you certified on? (Google Partner / Meta Business Partner)
10 What would make you tell me a channel ISN’T right for my business?
That last question is the best filter: honest agencies regularly talk clients out of channels that won’t work for
them.
Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How much should a small business in Dubai budget for digital marketing?
Realistically AED 6,000–12,000/month all-in (management plus ad spend) for one or two channels done properly. Below that, focus on Google Business Profile, reviews, and organic content first.
2. Should I choose a local Dubai agency or a remote one?
Location matters less than market knowledge. What matters: do they understand UAE consumer behaviour, Arabic/English content needs, and local platforms? Many strong agencies serve the UAE from hybrid India–UAE teams at better rates.
3. How long before I should expect results?
PPC: leads within days, efficiency by weeks 4–8. SEO: meaningful movement at 3–6 months. Social: engagement growth in 4–8 weeks. Anyone promising much faster is selling, not planning.
